What is Lateral Canthoplasty?

Lateral Canthoplasty is a procedure to correct the tail of the eyes by fixing the periosteal ligaments on the tail of the eyes. The process for correcting the eye tails is separating the tail of the eyes and fixing the periosteal ligaments. After that, the periosteal ligaments on the tail of the eyes are separated in order to prevent turning the eyelids to the opposite side.

At Answer Plastic Surgery, Dr. Choi experts on the separation of the periosteal ligaments on the tail of the eyes. Thus, there is much less possibility of side effects of the Lateral Canthoplasty.

You can operate both Epicanthoplasty and Lateral Canthoplasty together (Dual Canthoplasty)

  • If you have eyelids which are too low or too high, it may cause sleepy and sharp looking eyes. The Lateral Canthoplasty can balance the most ideal shape of the eyes to each individual patient.

Answer’s Wonder Lateral Canthoplasty can enlarge the size of the eyes and bring balance between the eyes. Additionally, threads are stitched at the corner of the eyes; so the threads are almost invisible. You can return to daily life quickly and threads do not cause any awkwardness to the eyes.

What is the correction of the eye tail?

The correction of the tail of the eyes is one of the most popular canthoplasty surgeries. The correction of the eye tails reduces the side effects of Lateral Canthoplasty.

Getting only Lateral Canthoplasty might cause the upper and lower parts of the eye tails are attached to each other. The correction of the eye tails minimizes this side effect. It also has an effect of widening the horizontal length of the eyes and creates less sharp looking eyes.

If your eyes are too horizontally short or undefined, or you are unsatisfied with the result of the double eyelid surgery, or getting a canthoplasty may not cause an effective result. The correction of the eye tail may be effective to solve these problems.

This procedure is recommended, if you...

  • Have horizontally short eyes
  • Want a subtle and soft shape to your eyes
  • Have eyes which are too close to each other
  • Are not satisfied with the results of Epicanthoplasty
  • Eyes have a sharpness because the eye tail is located too high
  • The eyes are sad-looking because the eye tail is located too low
